Default Judgement meaning: Default judgment is a binding judgment in favor of either party based on some failure to take action by the other party. Most often, it is a judgment in favor of a plaintiff when the defendant has not responded to a summons or has failed to appear before a court of law. The failure to take action is the default. – Source: Wikipedia
Jennifer Hough, the attempted rape victim of Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty has dropped her default judgement action against Kenneth Petty in her lawsuit which claims that Nicki Minaj, Kenneth Petty and their associates attempted to bribe her and threatened her in order to recant her 1994 rape claim against Kenneth Petty.
Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty failed to respond to Jennifer Hough’s lawsuit within the time period allocated which means they did not respond to the lawsuit in a timely fashion, claiming that they were not served papers. This led to Jennifer Hough asking the presiding Judge to grant her a default judgement which if granted would have led to Jennifer being awarded up to $20 million. On May 13th 2022, Jennifer Hough’s legal counsel Tyrone Blackburn filed to have Jennifer Hough’s motion for a default judgment against Kenneth Petty withdrawn.

This does not mean the lawsuit against Kenneth Petty has been dropped – the lawsuit against Kenneth Petty is still ongoing, even though his wife Nicki Minaj was dismissed from the case without prejudice. Tyrone Blackburn stated in a hearing on 20th January 2022 that the reason for her dismissal was because there are plans to sue Nicki in a different jurisdiction. Jurisdiction issues with the case were used by Nicki Minaj’s legal counsel as part of her defence against the allegations.
